TPE-熱塑性彈性體是一種具有橡膠的高彈性，高強度，高回彈性的新型材料。TPE材質觸感柔軟，耐候性好，不含增塑劑，是一種環保無毒的材料，價格在2.5-5萬/噸之間，廣泛使用在與人體接觸的日用品中。

PVC-聚氯乙烯，是一種有毒的含氯樹脂。加工時添加了增塑劑，增塑劑的含量越大，材料越柔軟，廣泛的用于建材，人造皮革中，價格在0.8-1.2萬元/噸之間。聚氯乙烯塑料制品在較高溫度下，如50℃左右就會慢慢地分解出氯化氫氣體，這種氣體對人體有害。

TPE與PVC相比，更耐高溫和低溫、有更好的彈性，近年來環保呼聲越來越高，所以在很多領域節能環保的熱塑性彈性體TPE開始取代PVC。
